When Kelly Sotherton had her Olympic gold medal stolen back in February, the last place she expected it to be returned was via a postbox.
Postboxes have been designed with mechanisms to prevent theft, however it is unusual to discover an item which has benn stolen in a postbox. The Birmingham athlete Kelly Sotherton had her stolen gold medal returned in less than 24 hours, after an appeal was made on Crimewatch for the medal to be returned to its worthy owner.
The thieves broke into Kelly’s home in Sutton Coldfield one night when she was sleeping and stole the Olympians' medal among many other awards. The West Midlands Police said the gold medal was found by a local postman while emptying a red pillar box nearby.
Kelly has stated "I'm over the moon. Crimewatch seemed to appeal to someone's better nature". Read more in the link below:
