So you didn't buy a Parcel Box...well, I did warn you!

The joyous celebrations, yet sometimes trials and tribulations of Christmas, have come and gone in a blink of an eye.

We are already in the grip of the January sales, with online purchases dominating this busy and important time for consumers and the retail industry. What is your delivery solution for your home deliveries? I still recommend purchasing a parcel box from PostBoxShop. You will always be at home for deliveries with a parcel box.

However, you may remember my blog posted in December for Postbox Shop when I advised utilising a parcel box...

I warned readers of the perils of online deliveries and of course there have been a catalogue of delivery errors perpetrated by inept parcel delivery drivers. Tamebay have even likened these delivery issues by Amazon as a Christmas game. (Tamebay is a leading provider of intelligence & news for all businesses and business people who ply their trade on online marketplaces.)

Amazon start new game find your parcel - Tamebay

This December Amazon delivery drivers became creative with their parcel drop-off locations including inside a bin and on top of a car port roof.

Lauren Frunchillo in her article, ‘Amazon start new game find your parcel’, says:

“Who doesn’t love a good game around Christmas time? Amazon have just started one called ‘Find your parcel’ Piloting in Wales & Guisborough…and it could be coming to you next!”

Well, I did warn you...

Consumer watchdog ‘Which’ state that one in four people who have shopped online over the Christmas period have experienced a parcel failing to turn up. Not too surprising is the one in six people whose delivery was later than expected, according to Which’s latest research.

An increasing number of delivery firms and retailers are coming under fire for problems delivering parcels. Last year, consumer rights group ‘Resolver’ received an astonishing 35,339 complaints about delivery companies, up by 203%. In some cases, retailers and couriers are failing to take responsibility if a parcel does not arrive, claiming they have been signed for of left in a safe spot.

Some consumers have accused couriers of forging signatures and even dumping parcels, while others have complained that their parcels have been put in places where they are easily stolen.

Martyn James, from Resolver (free online tool for complaints and claims), says:

“We have seen the big increase in complaints about fake signatures and parcels being left in the wrong place. Delivery firms are trying to keep costs down, which is putting pressure on the drivers. Some of them have ludicrous targets, so it is no wonder they sometimes cut corners.”

There are also thieves who steal your precious parcels when left on the doorstep. Police forces throughout the UK are overstretched, underfunded and have more serious crimes to contend with, so these Porch Pirates tend to get away with their SWAG.

What can we do to mitigate against this threat?

The answer is simple to purchase a parcel box from PostBoxShop!

PostBoxShop supply a vast number of postboxes, letterboxes and mailboxes to suit all our customer’s needs. However, shopping online is becoming increasingly popular, with one common problem. Who will be at home all day to wait for the parcel box deliveries, as they are generally too big to fit through standard letter plates? The solution is, of course, a secure and large-capacity parcel box.

Our Parcel Dropbox is perfect, simply place a parcel onto the internal shelf and close the lid, which will drop it down inside the box, a section only accessible with your key. It is unique as it will accept multiple deliveries, and it can be screwed to a wall or concreted into the ground with a base plate. Our Zurich letterbox is much smaller, however, ideal for both external and internal use.

If you have any questions about our parcel box range, please contact our friendly team today.

Remember, you will always be at home for deliveries with a parcel box.

PostBoxShop wishes you all a Healthy and Happy New Year.
